Dr. Joshua Shayefar was born and raised in Beverly Hills, California. He attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, finishing his first year Summa Cum Laude and graduating with High Honors. He continued his Ivy League specialty training at Columbia University, completing a Certificate in Periodontology during his time.
Dr. Shayefar enjoys the field of periodontics and dental implant surgery as it demands great attention to detail and emphasizes the continuous mastery of innovative microsurgical approaches. He takes pride in creating beautiful and confident smiles for his patients.
In his free time, Dr. Shayefar enjoys playing water polo, fishing, hiking, and traveling. He also has a passion for teaching and serves as an instructor for implant and continuing education courses.
Dr. Josh Shayefar is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Los Angeles Dental Society, and the West Los Angeles Dental Society. He is certified in Oral Conscious Sedation as well as in Laser assisted periodontal procedures commonly known as LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure). He has been published in the world-renowned Compendium Dental Magazine and Explorer Dental Magazine. He also serves as the Mentorship Chair as well as on the Membership Committee for the Los Angeles Dental Society. He is a faculty member and instructor for the Global International Implant Academy, teaching general dentists the principles and concepts of periodontics and implant dentistry. Last but not least, he is the recipient of the 2020 Straumann Annual Meeting Scholarship.
